We have two growing sites, one located in the San Francisco Bay area and the other in Capay Valley, Yolo Co., CA. In the Capay Valley, we are in Sunset Zone 9, occurring in the hot and dry interior Coast Ranges. Our temperatures typically range from 24 degrees in winter to 110 degrees in summer. This location has an ideal climate for growing xerophytic plants, and here we have a wide variety of grasses, drought tolerant and desert perennials and shrubs and unusual species of cacti and succulents. In the Bay Area we are in Sunset Zone 14, just inland and out of the daily influence of the cooling breezes of San Francisco Bay. At this site our temperatures typically range from 28 degrees in winter to 90 degrees in summer. Here we concentrate on drought tolerant woodland and coastal-climate perennials, native herbs, bulbs, and Mediterranean-climate shrubs.

We have demonstration gardens at both sites that allow us to maintain a stock of parent plants for propagation purposes. Although Chamisa Ridge is a wholesale nursery, we sell retail by appointment and have two open house/retail sales days at the Capay Valley site in spring and fall respectively.
